Del Oro Water Company is seeking a full-time entry-level WATER UTILITY FIELD TECHNICIAN & METER READER for the BUTTE COUNTY, CA service area
 
 
The ideal candidate will be competent and experienced in:
  • Water meter reading, installation, and maintenance
  • Mainline and hydrant installation
  • Leak repairs for service lines, mainlines, valves, and hydrants
  • Maintaining buildings and grounds
  • Operating a variety of manual and power tools,including light to heavy equipment, performing related work as required
Candidate MUST be willing to obtain the following within two years:
  • D-2 certification
  • T-2 certification
Candidate must:
  • Be willing and able to perform heavy, manual labor in ALL weather conditions 
  • Be able to work independently 
  • Live in or be willing to relocate to the Paradise/Magalia, CA area 
  • Pass a physical and a drug test
  • Provide a printout of their California Driver's License history
  • Be willing and able to work on-call/standby hours, weekends and long hours may be required

Water Utility Field Technician is considered a “first responder” during emergency conditions; candidates must live within thirty (30) minutes travel time of Districts Operations.

Del Oro Water Company is seeking a full-time ACCOUNTANT in CHICO, CA

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer & Director of Corporate Accounting, the position will perform routine analytical duties with responsibility in the following areas: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Water Accounting, Water Budget, Year End Processing, Financial Reporting.
 
 
Summary of Duties:
  • Assist in the development of the annual budgets
  • Manage asset records of the company and its affiliates
  • Assist Accounting Technicians in the processing of receivables, payables and check reconciliations
  • Prepare and post month-end and year-end adjustments and closing entries to the general ledger and balance subsidiary ledgers with control accounts in the general ledger
  • Assist Director of Corporate Accounting in compiling annual audit data
  • Assist administrative staff as required
  • Other related work as required to include: Field Asset Management, Risk & Resilience, Environmental & Compliance Reporting
 
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or equivalent is preferred
  • At least four years as an Accounting Technician or bookkeeper or comparable accounting experience
  • Basic accounting principles, basic mathematics including fractions and simple interest, alphabetical and numerical sequences, general office practices, proper telephone procedures and proper grammar
  • Valid California Driver License
Required skills and abilities:
  • Account for asset acquisitions, transfers and retirements; and administer periodic inventories of materials and supplies
  • Maintain clerical records and prepare reports and anticipate problems (including the development and anticipation of solutions)
  • Effectively work with all levels of employees, departments and management
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with other personnel, governmental officials, and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with agencies, consultants, customers, employees, and vendors
  • Ability to interpret and apply business and governmental laws and regulations
  • Effectively demonstrate the application of all skills, knowledge, and aptitudes required to carry out the duties and responsibilities cited above
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate records
  • Detail-oriented and experienced in analyzing and improving processes
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Skilled in preparing concise written reports, policies, and procedures
  • Flexible and able to prioritize work and take on additional tasks as required
