Del Oro History

A Brief History of Del Oro Water Company

Del Oro Water Company was originally formed in 1965 to meet the water needs of the Paradise Pines area in Magalia, California. Since that time we have grown throughout California. We provide service to four districts in Butte County-the Paradise Pines District serving 12,000 customers; The Lime Saddle District near Lake Oroville serving 900 customers; The Magalia District serving 700 customers; and the Stirling Bluffs District which supplies water to the 400 customers in Stirling City.

We also serve The Ferndale District in Humboldt County, serving 2000 customers; The Johnson Park District in Burney (Shasta County) serving 800 customers; and The Country Estates District in Bakersfield (Kern County) serving 220 customers.

In Addition, Del Oro Water Company serves The Pine Flat and Pine Mountain Districts in Tulare County, which has 650 customers. We also serve two districts in the Colusa County area. They include The Walnut Ranch District with 200 customers and the Arbuckle Water Company, which we manage, serving a population of 150. Near Sonora, California is our Strawberry District.  This district is in Tuolumne County and has 950 customers.

The River Island Water Company, which we currently manage, will be our newest addition in 2008 following the California Public Utilities Commission's approval.  Located in Tulare County, it currently serves 355 customers.
