Regional Intertie Project

LAKE INTAKE:
  • Installation of two 20-inch diameter steel intake pipes with a common intake screen.
  • Installation of two 125 horsepower submersible pumps each capable of pumping 625 gallons per minute
  • Installation of all electrical switchgear, conduits, and SCADA
  • Installation of all station piping
  • Installation of all concrete slabs and fencing
Status: 
The lake intake modification is 95% complete - work remaining consists of the installation of SCADA, painting, PG&E transformer changeout, startup and commissioning, and some site cleanup.
Schedule: 
We anticipate completion by June 30, 2011;  assuming no further delays in state funding disbursements.


WATER TREATMENT
PLANT SITE:
  • Installation of additional filter train, piping and valving capable of treating (in conjunction with the existing filters) up to 500 gallons per minute
  • Installation of two 200 horsepower booster pumps, each capable of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute, and station piping to transfer treated water to the Mid-Zone tank
  • Installation of a building to house the booster pump equipment
  • Expansion of the backwash holding pond
  • Modification of the reclaim system
  • Installation of electrical switchgear, conduits, and SCADA
  • Installation of underground piping and electrical conduits
  • Installation of back-up power system
Status: 
The underground piping has been installed. Waiting for warmer weather to pour the concrete filter and booster building slabs, along with the backwash sump.  Additional work remaining consists of the installation of SCADA, painting, PG&E transformer changeout, startup and commissioning, and some site cleanup.
Schedule: 
We anticipate completion by August 30, 2011;  assuming no further delays in state funding disbursements.


PIPELINE:
  • Approximately 13,500 linear feet of 16-inch and 12-inch (100 linear feet) with all valves and tees
  • Pipeline will connect the Water Treatment Plant and Mid-Zone Tank & Booster
In progress: 
The pipeline is currently being tested.  The contractor is also working to remove the last remaining dirt piles from Pentz Road.
Complete:
The pipelines, valves, and tees have been laid and the connections established.
Schedule: 
We anticipate completion by August 31, 2011;  assuming no further delays in state funding disbursements.


MID-ZONE BOOSTER
SYSTEM:
  • Installation of one 350,000 gallon steel storage tank with concrete ringwall
  • Installation of two 100 horsepower booster pumps, each capable of 600 gpm
  • Underground piping from the distribution system to the storage tank
  • Installation of all station piping to connect the booster pumps to the distribution piping
  • Installation of electrical switchgear, conduits, conductors, and SCADA
  • Site Improvements
In progress: 
The contractor is presently excavating the booster building slab. The electrical contractor has commencd work on the installation of underground electrical conduits and the electrical switchgear.  The booster pumps and electrical switchgear will commence thereafter, followed by the installation of the booster building.  Work remaining after the installation of the building will be the completion of site grading, the installation of PG&E electrical service and SCADA, and startup and project commissioning.
Complete: 
The 350,000 gallon storage tank is in place.
Schedule: 
We anticipate completion by August 31, 2011;  assuming no further delays in state funding disbursements.


UPPER-ZONE BOOSTER
SYSTEM:
  • Installation of all underground piping and station piping
  • Installation of two 75 horsepower booster pumps, each capable of 1,500 gpm
  • Installation of all electrical switchgear, conduits, and SCADA system
  • Relocation of existing 10,000 gallon hydropneumatic tank along with concrete foundation.
Status: 
The contractor has installed the tank connection along with all underground piping.  The contractor is presently fabrication the station piping and awaiting completion of the electrical switchgear.  Upon completion of the pipeline and water treatment plan booster pumps, the hydropneumatic tank will be relocated and set at the Upper site.  Once piping connections are complete and PG&E power has been upgraded, startup and commissioning will be completed.

We anticipate completion by August 30, 2011;  assuming no further delays in state funding disbursements.


SYSTEM SCADA
PROJECT:
  • Installation of radio and/or internet communication links between the facilities, DOWC service center, and the DOWC corporate office
  • Installation of monitoring software
Status: 
The original bid from TelStar was rejected due to a bidding irregularity. LSCE is developing an alternative plan for material purchase and installation.  Will be submitted to CDPH for approval within the next 10 days.  The alternative plan will consist of DOWC directly purchasing all SCADA material and software. LCSE will engage the services of a system integrator to do all programming and installation.
Schedule: 
Work is in progress. Will be completed by August 1, 2011.
